The Zero CMS Era
AI assistants and the model context protocol is ushering in the Zero CMS era allowing everyone to be a website builder.
tl;dr
Most websites no longer need a CMS. With an AI assistant and hostbento, anyone can build and run a site using prompts: blogs, portfolios, even small stores. If you’ve been meaning to build one, this is a good time to start.
The Longer Version
For those who may not know, Konigle provides software (aka AI agent) that lets SMEs run core business workflows by simply sending emails—like building and updating websites, running email marketing, invoicing, and more. This year has been a lot of fun. We’ve seen customers make more money while saving a significant amount of time.
Lately, though, we had a realization: > 95% of websites—blogs, link pages, portfolios, even small e-commerce stores—don’t really need a CMS-based website software.
This realization led Ashish Kumar, PhD, Gopalakrishna Hegde, and me to extract the website-building and hosting capability of Konigle and package it as an MCP server.
The idea is simple: If you already use an AI assistant, you should be able to create your own corner of the internet without needing a CMS.
We believe we have entered the ‘Zero CMS’ Era. You can run your website using just an AI assistant and hostbento.
This is how we think hosting looks in the AI era: simple, accessible, and human-friendly. Prompts are the new theme. We’re all designers, engineers, and creators now. We’re all website builders.
If you’ve been meaning to build a website, start a blog, or even create a small browser-based game, you can connect the hostbento MCP server to your AI assistant of choice and build it over a weekend.
